- Real knowledge of the places you will show — history, stories, timings and how to get around.
- A language your guests speak. Hindi and English cover most visitors; add any other language you speak well.
- A smartphone and a phone number for the one-time password (OTP) sign-in.
- Clear, bright photos of yourself and the places on your route.
- Check the rules for your area: some protected monuments allow only approved guides inside, and guides are commonly expected to hold approval from the Ministry of Tourism or the state tourism department for monument guiding. Walks in lanes, markets and neighbourhoods outside ticketed sites are usually different — ask the local tourism office for current rules.

- Delhi: an Old Delhi food and heritage walk through Chandni Chowk, a Humayun's Tomb and Mehrauli day, or a sunset walk around India Gate and Lodhi Garden.
